Message From The Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers and Prospective Pupils

Ocean Lodge Independent School is a small specialist school with provision for up to 13 pupils, aged from 7 to 18 years, the vast majority being placed from within our organisiations children’s homes.

Our school was established and opened to pupils in 2011. We continually aim to be a centre of excellence for all pupils within our area, that provides every pupil with the opportunity to access a well- rounded, holistic, broad and balanced curriculum, from Entry Level to GCSE, alongside Functional Skills to balance academic learning with life today,

Our vision is to provide a safe and nurturing environment, which our pupils can flourish and achieve at the best of their ability and beyond – This will include academically, socially, morally and emotionally. We celebrate the successes and victories of our pupils, instilling pride in themselves, their school and their community.

We look forward to working with you and sharing our achievements and the progress of our pupils.

I have been at Ocean Lodge (OLIS), since October 2017, originally as a teacher, then as teaching and learning lead and now head teacher.

I have over 20 years’ experience, working with SEN children. From learning needs to behavioural difficulties incorporating emotional and mental health needs.

For the last 4 years, I have worked closely with children with autism and those struggling with anxiety, both of which often can present in behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Along with my strong team of teachers , my vision is for all pupils to enjoy  school life and strive to be the very best version of themselves.
